News Letter 4th January
NEWSLETTER>>>>>>NEWSLETTER>>>>>>NEWSLETTER> Happy New Year to all club members….players, officials and supporters. As we step into 2008 we have 4 months before the season starts and have a few things planned and hopefully more to come. NETS……nets commence next Friday (11-01-08) at Rossett, 8-9pm. We hope as many players as possible will attend a few sessions at least; both 1st team and 2nd team are invited to attend. Ollie Mantle the new 1st team skipper is organising and will collect a net fee on the night. We hope to have a couple of new players on view, but it’s perhaps wise to wait and see who turns up before making any announcements! CLUB DINNER….The dinner and trophy presentation evening will be at Grants in the function suite at 7.30pm on Friday 22nd February 2008.. We are restricted to 50 places so please make your bookings with Carol Dawson ASAP. Bookings will only be accepted with CASH or CHEQUE for about £25 ( CD will confirm)per place. Will all those who won a trophy in 2006 please make sure that they have returned it to Carol by the end of January. FRIENDLY MATCH….a friendly vs. GROUND WORK….The basic wicket preparation was done as usual in September at the end of the season, but come the end of March/beginning of April we will need support. Peter Armitage and Robin Hardcastle will carry the brunt of it as usual, but they will need help with the sightscreens, the poster boards and general work in the pavilion and round the perimeter of the field. Again details will follow nearer the time, but please remember the season doesn’t start with the third Sat in April…there will be much to do in the weeks before. NEW FOOTBALL FIELD AND PAVILION EXTENSION….Progress is slow, but we are working towards a new site for the footballers on Birstwith Rd., and with the generosity of our President Sir James Aykroyd, we hope to have an agreement for a long term lease in place soon. This will be the starting point for the project and we hope to be able to report some real progress in next time. FUNDS….lastly a reminder that we are always looking for additional income. We have been spending more than we earn for the last 4/5 years and the “pot” is running dry. If you are not already supporting our regular avenues please consider doing so:
If you have any bright ideas and are prepared to run with it, please let me know..eg BBQ’s, Race nights, Domino cards etc. NEW HCC WEBSITE….Richard Barratt et al have put us on the world net. He is always looking for HCC news including any historical information. Contact Richard with any news Let us hope for a good summer, some exciting cricket, a smattering of new players…and maybe some silverware in September!! Regards, Peter Crack. Vc. Ps….if you have any members email addresses that do not normally see these postings please copy them ( we have only about 50% on email currently) *…if you are unsure whether you paid your 2007 subscription, please see the list in the pavilion or contact Tom Stanford…you would not want to be embarrassed to see your name NOT there in April!
